A few of them are still intact, but most have been laid waste by the traffic. It was odd on the drive home Friday to see these splotches of pink, blue, green, and yellow outlining the slow lane.

I think "Dark Heart" is to blame.

My sister just told me an interesting event that occurred today. Apparently Saidee and Spud (her two dogs) got into a fight over a toy.

Tontitah (the evil kitty of doom) heard the ruckus and ran in the room and jumped on the bed to observe. When Dee got the dogs broken up, Saidee ran over to the bed and she and Tontitah touched noses together. Soon as that happened, Tontitah ran over to Spud and slapped him across the face, then ran back to Saidee and touched noses again. It's so funny! They really do have an alliance.

Not that long ago Saidee started refusing to eat her food until Tontitah has been fed. It's very strange. I am at my parents' feeding the dogs and Saidee won't eat. My Mom casually remarks, "Saidee waits for you to feed the cat first." As if this was normal behavior. I fed the cat and sure enough, Saidee watched for me to be done filling the cat's bowl and then she began to eat.

Definitely most affected by Steve Irwin. He was not the typical type of untimely celebrity passing (as in out on the party scene). Also, the circumstances of his death were so odd. As someone who worked with him stated "It's like being a seasoned lumber jack, and one day while out on a picnic with your family a tree limb falls on you and kills you."

Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstance.

The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura:

Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15 :19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

My brother has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted fan,

Katie

PS: I am most interested in the obvious loophole regarding the enslavement of those north of the border. I have done my best to build a career off of this Biblical teaching. Please join me in supporting a new initiative based upon God's will. I also plagiarized this letter from someone far more clever and less time constrained than I.

I am on a mission to abolish marriage. Don't worry. If you're already married then you cannot fall victim to grandfathering. If you aren't married, then hurry up because I am thinking it will only take a few years to fix this up once I get things going.

I was listening to NPR this morning when it hit me, "They are able to pass their stupid marriage amendments based on the Bible because marriage is based on the Bible."

The preacher's words this morning rang loud and clear: "The Bible says marriage is between one man and one woman", which funny enough is the exact wording of these marriage amendments popping up all over our nation.

I can respect the Bible and those who believe in it (to a certain extent for the latter given the majority's recent conduct), but I also respect our Constitution which calls for the separation of church and state. We all know this.

So I ask this question: If marriage is of a religious nature and this country is supposed to separate church and state then why is anything to do with marriage written into our government?

It should not be.

Believe me. I understand the need for marriage. It helps people merge their assets, take care of each other in emergency situations, and raise the same children. That is why I say "marriage" in the Biblical sense should be up to the church only.

If people want something for legal necessities it will be named "civil union" or something akin. If you're religious then by all means go to your church or what have you and be wed by some preacher, but if you want something recognized by the government it will be conducted outside of the church much in the same way marriage licenses are done now.

If Christians are going to use the wording of the Bible to change our constitution then know that I will be using the wording of the constitution to back fire on them.

There are plenty of intelligent, powerful, and determined people on my side of the "marriage amendment" issue and that number grows greater with each passing generation. You can try to stop progress and perhaps you can even slow it to a dull stammer, but it will keep going onward. That's why it is called progress, and progress is written into the very fabric of everything humanity does and will continue to do.

Writing these marriage amendments is forcing a religion on to the American people.

Same-sex couples want the same stability and recognition for their children that heterosexual couples do. We are trying to raise families in a world where sometimes peace is hard to come by. Sometimes ignorance causes pain or worse. Sometimes good people do harmful things out of fear.

Fear does not rule this country. We are a free nation and may we continue to be.

Planning to leave for Houston in the morning. Sounds like it wasn't too bad at my place according to the upstairs neighbor. Both next door neighbors got hit a lot harder. I am bored and restless here and want to get on with my life.

My Mom says people here wonder why I would want to live in Houston. I wonder why they would want to live here. I guess we all have to agree to disagree. I have too much energy for this place and I no longer speak the general language. It's weird that I have changed so much, but I am glad for it.

Houston I'm comin' home!

Hopefully I will be able to navigate roads w/out too much trouble.

I'm watching the news this morning anxiously. I want to leave now and start driving home so I can be there by later this afternoon, but everyone is telling me that is a bad idea. Apparently, I am supposed to wait until we get the go ahead.

I always say it and will say it again. I can lose everything, as long as the dogs and I are okay. Material possessions are always replaceable. Lives are not.

I'm sad that I didn't get to experience the excitement of a hurricane, but as long as I have dogs, children, or whoever to worry about, I will throw them in the car and get the hell out of town.

Reading a book I can't put down and getting a head ache from it.

Being lonely and wishing someone was someone that they aren't. That we would still be together and be happy.

Being lonely and wishing that another someone was someone that they're not so that I could be with her. She is beautiful. She has the same eyes as the other someone that is now completely someone that they're not. In her I see the someone I am looking for and yet she can't be. Maybe I am something that I am not who is searching for someone that doesn't exist.

Maybe I don't exist and this is just something that it isn't. Maybe you don't exist and you are something that you shouldn't be.

CHICKEN SANDWICH!!

All weird ramblings are made even more poetic by ending with an arbitrary food item, particularly the chicken sandwich.

My Grandma has been in and out of the hospital for the past few weeks because her blood pressure keeps rising to stroke level. The doctors found that one of her main arteries was clogged. They were able to repair it with a fairly non-invasive procedure, but her blood pressure is still not stabilizing.

Then last night my sister calls to tell me that she is at the E.R. with my Mom because my Mom is having chest pains. The doctors do an EKG and it turns out irregular so she is then transferred to the big hospital where my Nana is staying. My dad is working in Guymon, OK which is in between Kansas and Amarillo. He drove to Big Lake in 6 hours and arrived at 6 a.m. He told me to wait until he knows more and save my leave for when it is an really serious.

I am waiting. I talked to my Mom twice today and she sounds a lot better. They are keeping her in the hospital for the rest of the week to run tests.

I could not live out there in West Texas but sometimes it's really hard being far away. Ah well. At least I'm not in Iraq or somewhere crazy like that with all of this happening.

This lady says that "If Harry Potter was around during the Old Testament, he'd have been put to death." By this terminology we can deduct that she has a habit of confusing books of fiction with reality. Wow, she has a lot of credibility.

She also uses a bottle of Nestle water to cleanse the hypocrite children's hands. I did not know that the water of God was from Nestle.

She also talks about how too many adults are fat and lazy and don't know how to fast when she is an obviously overweight woman herself. Must be that damn thyroid.

She also mentions that she wants Christian children to die for their beliefs like Muslim Extremists do. No comment, but what the fuck lady!

Then it ends with the homophobic (widely known) closeted gay preacher preaching against homosexuality. I think God invented Ted Haggert to cheer people up like me. Thank ya Jesus!!

The empty brain-washed look of insanity in that one particular little girl's eyes will haunt me for a long time to come. It's the look someone gives you before they drown their own baby. Not that I have seen that in person, but I am making a good guess.
